Milwaukee Art Museum

Here are a couple more shots from my pilgrimage to the Masters of American Comics show in Wisconsin. (Saying that still feels odd, somehow).
The building is TRULY amazing from the outside and is equally impressive once inside. The stagnant aesthetes of Chicago architecture should take note.

The Science Channel just recently showed an episode of 'Building the Ultimate' called, Glass House, that features the MAM construction in the first half of the show. All of the glass pieces in the curved 'prow' of the building that overlook the lake are unique. They go in-depth into the many one-of-a-kind construction/design features of the museum, including how they got the building's wings to open and close so beautifully. Very cool.

The new Lipitor ad, now running on TV, is filmed throughout the MAM.

Hey Charlie,
yeah I've noticed that!
I wonder if it's ever been used as a location for anything else?

I haven't seen anything yet, but when I first saw the Lipitor ad I wondered what the connection to Milwaukee was going to be. Did Jarvik go to school there? Was a long-term study conducted there? Nope, just a damn cool building to film in.

LOL,
yeah I assumed it was the cool factor.
Plus, I think the appearance of the building, with it's chambers, gives the sense of "openess" and "flow"; something I imagine would make sense in an ad for Lipitor.

Not to belabor this issue, but I saw the Lipitor ad again and, you know, if you didn't know it was MAM you would swear it was a CGI fantasy background built just for the commercial. Too cool.
